Florence Remy was officially received as a member of the Society of French Artists.
This association was created in 1881 to take over from the Academy of Fine Arts in the organisation of the Salon: by the will of King Louis XIV this event was to be used to exhibit the works of the members of the Royal Academy, and this Salon so famous in the nineteenth century for having made the career of the greatest names in painting, has endured until today thanks to the Society of French Artists. The history of the Great Palace is intimately linked to the Society of French Artists since it was designed and built by the members, in order to host the Salon, thus serving as the headquarters of the organisation.
